Japanese green tea Hojicha powder – which is mashed roasted Bancha tea leaves. Because the powder of this tea is brown and the infusion is orange, it does not look like a typical green tea. The amount of caffeine is minimal - even children can drink it.

Hojicha tea leaves are roasted in a pan at a temperature of about 200 °C and immediately cooled. Roasting allows the caffeine to sublimate, making the tea less bitter. Thanks to its mild taste of roasted chestnuts and cocoa, Hojicha tea is very popular with children and the elderly.

3 g of Hojicha tea

150 ml of water (temperature: 90 degrees Celsius)

HOW TO USE HOJICHA TEA

HOJICHA LATTE

 

 Ingredients:

3 g (teaspoon) Hojicha powder

60 ml of water (water temperature 90 C)

180 ml of vegetable milk

  1. Place the hojicha powder in a bowl. We recommend passing the powder through a sieve to eliminate grains. Add 60 ml of water and agave syrup (to taste) to the bowl with the powder. Using a bamboo whisk, whisk the Hojicha powder vigorously (in a W motion) until air bubbles form and a soft foam forms. Pour into a latte glass.
  2. Heat the milk and whisk with an electric latte whisk. Gently pour the resulting foam into a glass with Hojicha.
  3. Enjoy the creamy texture of latte and the unusual taste of roasted chestnuts and cocoa!
