Description
"Green of Japan" HOJICHA tea, Japanese roasted
Hojicha (ほうじ茶) it is a roasted tea, a blend of Sencha and Bancha teas. Because the tea leaves are brown and the infusion is orange, it doesn't look like a typical green tea.
Hojicha tea is usually made from Bancha or Kukicha teas that naturally have less caffeine than other teas. The leaves are roasted at a high temperature and immediately cooled. Roasting further reduces the caffeine content, resulting in a milder, sweeter Hojicha. The low caffeine content allows you to enjoy tea both in the first and second half of the day.
Thanks to its mild taste of roasted chestnuts and cocoa, Hojicha tea is very popular with children and the elderly.
Health Benefits of Green Tea:
- Antioxidants, such as carotenoids and vitamin C found in tea, help strengthen the immune system and remove toxins from the body. Green tea is much richer in antioxidants than black tea or even vegetables!
- Green tea lowers blood pressure and is a proven remedy for hypertension. Also, regularly drinking green tea reduces the development of heart diseases.
- Thanks to catechin, which is a strong antioxidant, green tea helps protect against cancer.
Due to its very low caffeine content, Hojicha tea is suitable for drinking by children and the elderly.
HOJICHA TEA - PREPARATION
Traditional method of preparation:
- Add green tea to the teapot.
- Never use freshly boiled water! Pour boiled tea over the tea leaves and cooled to the required temp. with water. Brewing time depends on the type of tea (see below).
- Pour the brewed green tea evenly into all the pre-prepared cups, which will preserve the taste and aroma. Never leave tea leaves in water! In warm water, the catechins break down and the proteins increase, which can cause stomach aches and the tea itself will be more bitter.
- The same tea herbs can be boiled three times (increase the draw time by 15 seconds each time)
Amount of tea leaves: 3-4 g
Amount of water: 150 ml
Water temperature: 90 C
Time: 30 sec. - 1 min.
